Today is my last Disney Thursday post before I actually arrive in Florida! I get so many questions about the program so I thought I would write an FAQ answering the most common questions I get about the DCP.
Why are you doing the Disney College Program?
The Disney College Program is a stepping stone to a future career at Disney, or to a Disney professional internship. To apply for most professional internships you have to be an alumnus of the DCP. Also having a fortune 500 company on your resume can’t hurt. Disney is an amazing company and place, who wouldn’t want unlimited access for 7 months?
Are you going to graduate on time?
Yes, I will have to take a few classes over the summer but I will graduate on time!
What exactly do you do?
So for the DCP you get assigned a role in the park, and you also take classes and have the opportunity to attend career building seminars. My role in the park is Lifeguard!
How long will you be there?
There are 4 options when deciding to apply to the DCP. Spring, Spring Advantage, Fall, Fall Advantage. Spring and Spring Advantage are during the same recruiting season, and Fall and Fall Advantage are during the same recruiting season. The application for spring usually drops in August, the Spring program is January-June and the Spring Advantage program is January-August. The Fall application drops in January and the Fall program is August-December and the Fall Advantage is May-December. I will be participating in Fall Advantage so I will be at Disney for around 7 months.
Where do you live?
Disney provides company sponsored housing, there are 4 housing complexes where college programmers can live. I am hoping to live in Commons!
Do you need a car?
Disney provides a bus system, so you don’t need a car but it’s definitely helpful!
How did you find roommates?
I have 5 roommates, I found them through the Disney College Program Facebook pages! It’s literally just like college.
Is it a paid internship?
Yes!
Do you get discounts on stuff?
This is actually the most common question I get. Yes, I get discounts on stuff. I also get free admission to the parks which I think is the best part!
