I recently moved! I am back living in DC (something I really thought I was done with lol). Everyone close to me knows that every year I say I am moving but somehow I always end up right back here. I really wish I could say it’s because I am in love with the city, but mostly it’s because I have been fortunate to always have great job opportunities. One of those opportunities came with a free apartment and you really can’t turn that down lol. So here I am back in DC. However, one little stipulation is that I am only going to live here for max 1.5 years and minimum 6 months. The apartment came fully furnished (mattress, couch, kitchen stocked etc). So basically I sold everything I owned on my second day of work and moved here.
Having none of my own stuff is kind of starting to take a toll on me and I am constantly feeling like I am at work or kind of like a guest in my own apartment? But the flipside is that I am going to have to move so soon so their is really no point in owning anything. It’s weird. I don’t know what is weirder the strange relationship between ‘stuff’ and ‘home’ or the fact that I literally live for free at my job.
